Team Leaders

Experienced community activists are currently being recruited to serve as team leaders for the Engineering Social Justice training series. As a leader, you will be assigned a team made up of 10 participants who have a cross-section of interests in progressive issues and activism experience. Following each session, you will be responsible for facilitating your team's discussion based on the keynote speaker's presentation. In addition to processing and personalizing the information gleaned from each session, the goal of these breakout sessions will be to focus on ways to put ideas into action and build a stronger community.

A one-hour team leader training seminar will be held May 11 at 5:30 p.m., just prior to the opening session, Principles of Activism. This seminar is designed to provide you with information on how to be an effective team leader.

As a team leader it will be your responsibility to:
  1. guide your team in break out discussions at the end each session;
  2. keep your team members updated on key discussion issues and action items through the Engineering Social Change website; and
  3. be in touch with other team leaders and program organizers as to what's working well with your group and what can be done to make the most of each session.
